- Lubricant Type: Only use a water-based, PTFE lubricant like Magic Lube; petroleum-based products like Vaseline will deteriorate the rubber components quickly.

- Replace When Replacing Motor: It is highly recommended to replace the seal and gaskets using this kit whenever you replace your pump motor. An old seal will not mate properly with a new motor and is likely to leak.
- Lubricate O-rings: Use the included Magic Lube to lubricate all O-rings and gaskets during installation to help ensure a proper seal and prevent damage.
- Ensure Correct Fit: The kit includes multiple O-rings to accommodate different versions (pre- and post-1999) of the seal plate and lid, so ensure you use the correct O-rings for your specific pump model.
- Prevent Loss of Prime: Replacing a worn seal kit is a key step in fixing air leaks that cause a pump to lose prime.
