Product Description

The R-0001 DPD Reagent #1 is the primary liquid indicator used in professional-grade water testing to measure Free Available Chlorine (FAC). As the first step in any chlorine analysis, this reagent provides the most critical data point for ensuring your pool or spa is safe, sanitary, and free of bacteria.

Key Product Features

  • Instant Reaction: Provides an immediate pink-to-red color shift when added to chlorinated water, allowing for rapid field testing.
  • High-Resolution Results: Specifically formulated to work with standard color comparators to provide accurate parts-per-million (PPM) readings.
  • Precision Dropper Tip: Engineered to deliver uniform drop sizes (standard 5-drop dosage) for consistent and repeatable test cycles.
  • Light-Shielded Protection: Packaged in opaque white bottles to prevent UV-induced oxidation and extend the chemical's active shelf life.

⚠️ Reagent Safety & Handling Warnings

STORAGE: Store in a cool, dark place (36°F–85°F). Never leave your test kit in a hot equipment shed or in direct sunlight, as UV and heat will oxidize the chemicals.
CAP HYGIENE: Never swap caps between R-0001 and R-0002. Even a trace amount of cross-contamination will ruin the accuracy of the entire bottle.
FRESHNESS INDICATOR: R-0001 should be a clear-to-light-yellow liquid. If the solution has turned dark brown or black, it has oxidized and must be replaced.
💡 Professional Accuracy Tips
  • The Vertical Drop: Hold the bottle perfectly vertical. Tilted bottles produce smaller drops, leading to a "false-low" chlorine reading.
  • The "Flash" Effect: If chlorine is above 10 ppm, the sample may turn red and then instantly go clear. This is "bleach out." Dilute with distilled water and re-test.
  • Protocol: Fill vial to line, add 5 drops of R-0001, cap, and swirl. Match against comparator block standards immediately.
CHEMICAL SAFETY: This reagent is a chemical irritant. Avoid contact with eyes and skin; if contact occurs, flush with water for 15 minutes.
CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65 WARNING: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after use.
GENERAL DISCLAIMER: Reagent life is approximately one year under ideal storage. Taylor reagents are designed for use with Taylor-branded color comparators. Always verify expiration dates.
