Warnings and Disclaimers
- High Voltage Hazard: All electrical wiring must be performed by a licensed electrician. Disconnect all power before opening the enclosure to prevent electric shock or death.
- Pump Synchronization: The PC100 Power Center must be wired so that it only receives power when the pool pump is running. Operating the salt cell without water flow can lead to a dangerous buildup of hydrogen gas.
- Mounting Location: Install the power center at least 5 feet from the inside wall of the pool and 1 foot above the ground to comply with safety codes and prevent flood damage.
- Thermal Protection: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation. Do not mount inside a closed cabinet or near heat sources that could trigger the internal safety shut-off.
- Interlock Safety: Always wire the PC100 to the load side of the pump timer or the "Filter Pump" relay in your automation panel. This is your primary fail-safe against cell damage.
- Surge Protection: While the unit has built-in safety circuitry, installing an external surge protector on your main equipment panel can further extend the life of the PC100's internal transformer.
- Check the Cord: Periodically inspect the 4-prong cell cable connection at the bottom of the PC100. Ensure it is fully seated and the locking ring is tight to prevent arcing or "no-cell" errors.
- Automation Sync: If using a Pentair automation system, the PC100 can be bypassed if your system has an integrated salt power center—check your panel's internal components before purchase.
