Muriatic Acid
Maintain perfect water chemistry and tackle tough cleaning jobs with this professional-strength 1 Gallon Muriatic Acid solution. Also known chemically as Hydrochloric Acid (HCl), this product is a powerful, fast-acting solution designed for a variety of demanding applications.
In pool maintenance, it is the most common chemical used to effectively lower high pH and total alkalinity (TA) levels, helping to prevent scaling, corrosion of equipment, and enhancing chlorine efficiency. The optimum pH range for pools is generally between 7.2 and 7.8.
Beyond the pool, this versatile acid is highly effective for:
- Etching concrete surfaces to prepare them for sealing or painting.
- Brightening masonry and removing excess mortar from bricks.
- Removing tough stains, rust, mold, and calcium deposits from tiles, concrete, and metal surfaces.
Always handle with extreme caution and use proper safety equipment.

- Poisonous Fumes: Do not breathe mist or vapor. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
- Hazardous Reactions: NEVER mix with chlorine products (bleach, tablets, shock) or any other chemicals, as this creates highly toxic chlorine gas.
- First Aid: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a Poison Center/Physician immediately.
?? Professional Tips
- Add Acid to Water: When diluting, always add acid slowly to water, never water to acid, to prevent a violent, heat-generating reaction and splashing.
- Protective Gear: Always wear full protective equipment, including acid-resistant gloves, a respirator, safety goggles, and a face shield.
- Storage: Store the container tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from metals and other pool chemicals. Fumes can corrode nearby metals.
- Neutralize Spills: Keep baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) or soda ash nearby to neutralize accidental spills safely.
