Warnings and Disclaimers
- Flow Safety: The system must be wired to only receive power when the pool pump is running. Running the cell without water flow can lead to a dangerous buildup of hydrogen gas.
- Chemistry Requirements: Salt systems rely on proper **Cyanuric Acid (30-50 ppm)** levels to prevent UV burn-off. Failure to stabilize your water will result in poor sanitization.
- Calcium Warning: Even with self-cleaning technology, high calcium hardness (>400 ppm) will cause scaling on the plates. Monitor and clean the cell as needed to prevent hardware failure.
- Electrical Hazard: Must be installed by a licensed electrician. Ensure proper bonding of the power pack to the equipment pad grid.
- Easy Retrofit: The TruClear is designed with a specialized union kit that makes replacing older Jandy or Hayward systems much faster with minimal plumbing changes.
- Check the Light: If the "Low Salt" light is on, don't just dump in salt. First, check the transparent cell for white calcium scaling—cleaning the cell often fixes false salt readings.
- Salt Cell Shield: If you use a variable speed pump, find the lowest RPM that still engages the TruClear's internal flow switch to maximize energy savings while chlorinating.
- Winter Prep: When water temperatures drop below 55°F, the cell will stop producing chlorine. Switch to manual liquid chlorine for the winter months to protect the cell plates.
